Trauma and EMDR

Do you feel anxious and overwhelmed? That you are not good enough or not doing enough? Or have a feeling of unease, like something bad is going to happen? Maybe you feel vigilant or on edge and aren’t sure why.

Trauma often gets stuck in your body and mind and you can feel like you did as a child, powerless and afraid. You may work hard in remind yourself that you are smart enough and good enough, but you don’t yet wholeheartedly believe it.

For many clients, I utilize EMDR, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, an evidence based treatment that helps you to heal from past traumas in a holistic way so that you let go of the trauma in both body and mind and integrate healthy adaptive beliefs, and increase feelings of self-worth of well-being.

EMDR utilizes eye movement to help us process past trauma and adaptively integrate these experiences into our lives. Sometimes feelings and physical sensations from the past can become stuck. Wounds from childhood and our past can keep us from living our best lives in the present.

Each client is unique and I use a gentle and collaborate approach to both the therapy and the treatment planning.
